They exist mainly to help people relax and find their arty side, but it is also really nice for parents to be able to have a great cup of coffee while watching their children craft, especially if they don't want to get involved in the painting themselves. People also want to enjoy a nice drink while they craft, so that is why a craft cafe works! It is nice to be surrounded by like minded people as it often helps the creativity to flow. They are a great place for gatherings of groups like new mums and NCT groups, as they can give each other advice and have a natter, but also make gorgeous mementos of their children’s prints if it is in a pottery craft cafe. It is also popular for carers and the people they care for as they offer something to occupy time that can be really enjoyable! It can also be a place for carers to support each other
Normal cafes were, and are, thought to be the best places for conversations, different ideas would be discussed even with people that had never met before. Originally cafes were places for men to have conversations outside of the home, about business usually.
The first cafe was thought to be in Mecca in the early 1500’s. Then they came to Europe in the 1600’s. Vienna was the place to create many of the coffee traditions first, even having entertainment in the cafes for punters. This was usually a variety of games like card games or newspapers to read and even simple pool tables. This is probably where the idea of a craft cafe began, with having things for the customers to do while they enjoy the atmosphere of the cafe.
At Busy Brush Cafe, we define ourselves as a craft cafe. We offer a pottery painting option as well as a Decopatch craft option, which is rip and stick paper craft. Alongside this, we have delicious coffee, made by barista trained staff, that care about serving a great coffee. We have even just received a ‘Coffee Excellence’ award from Camper Cafe, for making great coffee. If you don't like coffee, there is also a wide choice of loose leaf teas, flavoured hot chocolates and cold drinks. Any of our hot drinks can be made with alternative milks, and our coffee is also available decaffeinated. We now offer these options at no extra charge. To accompany our drinks there is a wonderful selection of cakes, that also cater to allergies, some being gluten free and dairy free.
